Change in the visa application process in Germany

The Visa Application Center of the People’s Republic of China has made the following announcement about the change in visa application for China in Germany:

Effective immediately, fingerprints must again be collected from all visa applicants when applying for a visa. This applies to all consulate locations in Germany.

Exempt from this regulation are:
1. Persons under 14 years of age or over 70 years of age.

2. Holders of diplomatic passports or persons who are exempt from fingerprinting under bilateral agreements.

3. Persons who have applied for a Chinese visa on the same passport and whose fingerprints have already been captured within the last 5 years may be exempted. However, the biometric visa issued must be presented in the same passport.

4. Persons who have finger restrictions or persons for whom fingerprints of all 10 fingers cannot be captured for other reasons.

Please note that all applicants must come in person to the Visa Application Service Centre to be fingerprinted. We will guide you through the entire process.

Please note, all Visa Application Service Center locations in Germany currently have reduced opening hours and an appointment for fingerprinting must be made in advance with the Visa Application Service Center.

Furthermore, a COVID-19 vaccination certificate / EU digital vaccination certificate must currently be presented at all locations. This document must be sent in advance to the relevant Visa Application Service Centre for verification. Please note that the other pandemic-related restrictions are still valid!
